I’m a Mousejunkie, sure, but I’m also a bass player.

That's me (mugging for the camera like a goofball,) my brother and my friend Liam playing at a county fair up in N.H.

I’ve been playing much longer than I care to admit, and I should be much better than I am. Let’s just say my enthusiasm outstrips my skill.

Oh wait, I remember another pic that combines WDW and bass:

Playing a gig while wearing a Raglan Road T-shirt and some goofy facial hair. (And that's Katie in front, a few years younger.)

However, I recently was sent a video and came across a few others that combine my two loves: Disney and bass guitar. Needless to say I pulled out my four-stringer and started trying to learn these tunes.

Have a look for yourself:

Keith Bryant sent me this one. It seems fairly complex (to my ears/eyes, anyway) and looks like a challenge.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Disney’s music is always top-notch.

I always said that if Manowar had written a Disney tune it would be “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from “Mulan.” Well, here’s a cool cover of the bass line, featuring what appears to be an Ernie Ball/Music Man Stingray. I used to have one of those. It was blue, and I thought it was my “wife bass.” Turns out it wasn’t I sold it last year (I think it was to pay for a Disney trip I NEEDED.)

Here’s one from “Hercules” – another Stingray. This kid has really nice feel to his playing.

Here he is again on “Go the Distance” – which is probably one of my top two or three Disney songs, period.

Saved this one for last. This kid is absolutely sick. (In the best way possible.)
