It can be disconcerting at times.
I love ice cream more than almost anything. And when it comes to ice cream, more is always better.
So it is with that professional eye that I scanned the Disney Parks Blog’s list of the “Top 10 Irresistible Ice Cream Treats at Disney Parks.”
Yes, I did know it was National Ice Cream Month. And as the DPB says, “It’s the perfect opportunity to daydream about our favorite ice cream treats at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. And while we love the simple, choco-dip Mickey Mouse ice cream bar from a street cart, or a double-dip cone, these are the treats that go far, far beyond – decadent and worth every calorie.”
The list, of course, starts off with The Kitchen Sink. A monstrous creation that can take down even the biggest eater, this concoction pits mounds of ice cream, pound cake, candy bars and toppings (among many, many other ingredients) against bottomless bellies everywhere.
I attempted it once, and fell short. I was accompanied by three other friends.
One person I know attempted it all by himself.
He’s still recuperating from this folly.
Second on the list is the peanut butter and jelly shake at the 50s Primetime at the Studios. You will get no argument from me. That thing is divine. It’s peanut buttery. It’s jelly-y. It’s amazing.
Check out the entire list here on the Disney Parks Blog.
I find it funny that the ESPN Zone at Disneyland is mentioned – only because the last time we ordered some ice cream at the ESPN Club on the Boardwalk at WDW, we were told, “We don’t serve ice cream.”
“Huh.” was my considered reply.
What’s your favorite Disney ice cream treat?

I have not had a single one of those. Not even a bite of the Kitchen Sink. The closest I’ve come is a Strike It Rich at Ghirardelli (“Butterscotch Hot Fudge Sundae – butter pecan ice cream with butterscotch and golden almond nuggets under a layer of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry”). The Haight AshBerry sounds just about perfect for me, though.
The ice cream treat I’m most fond of is the custom made ice cream cookie sandwiches at the Main Street Ice Cream Shop, however. I had mine with fresh chocolate chip cookies and butter pecan ice cream. Yum!
The Kitchen Sink looks miniscule! Miniscule I tell you! Use a trowel and it’s only three bites, four tops.
It was tough taking that on alone. I have since returned to Beaches and Cream, but have toned it down to a burger, fries, and a strawberry sundae.
The PBJ shakes are pure awesomeness!
Bill, you should be excited to know that when you come for a visit here in Franklin, we have a Baskin Robins and a Ben & Jerry’s within 4 blocks of each other and both are no more than 10 WALKING from my house. (And there is also a little frozen yogurt place here if you get to feeling guilty)
Oh, John, that is all you had to say to get me to Franklin, TN! I LOVe, LOVE, LOVE ice cream! And my fave at Disney is pineapple whip float!
