The countdown to Dec. 6 – New Fantasyland’s grand opening – is on. And I, for one, can’t wait to see this in person.
Belle’s village looks amazing. From this side of the camera, anyway. It looks immersive, fantastic and completely believable. Can. Not. Wait.
For now, have a look at how the massive, bronze Gaston/LeFou statue (now gun-free!) was created, moved and dropped into place.
I think everyone will agree (as long as Gaston is around) no one has a bronze like Gaston! Because no one says no to Gaston.
As for the “gun-free” comment… Check the concept art and compare it to the final product. I don’t mind – I just hope it wasn’t left out because of scary, scary firearms.
Pyew pyew shoot the birdies.

I am fairly certain that the elimination of the gun is because Disney doesn’t want to be seen as promoting firearms if they can help it. The logo for Fort Wilderness Campground and Resort was once Mickey, dressed like Daniel Boone and carrying a prominent musket (a/k/a “Musket MIckey”). These days Mickey is more into hiking at the Fort, apparently. Yes, there’s still the Frontier Shootin’ Arcade and toy guns throughout the park, but it would be really noticeable if they got rid of the former, and I honestly wonder how long the latter will be around;
