I’m a sucker for the Carousel of Progress. Big time.
Just this last week Amy and I were wandering through the Magic Kingdom with no real plan of attack. Or so it seemed.
Amy’s not such a huge fan of the Carousel, but I knew I needed to see if John’s lumbago was acting up. I very stealthily guided her toward Tomorrowland – and directly to one of my favorite attractions. I think I enjoy it because it has a real connection to Walt Disney. Plus I seem to be drawn to audio-animatronic attractions.
Every time we see this attraction I try to look as closely as possible to see if I can pick up any details. I’d kill to be able to walk around the sets and get a close look at everything.
However, it seems someone else has had that opportunity. ImagineeringDisney.com has a great feature I completely stumbled across today: “Carousel of Progress Like You’ve Never Seen It.” It originally ran in October of 2011.
It’s got some great behind-the-scenes images, a few closeups, and a perspective I’d never get to see otherwise.
If you’re a fan of Carousel of Progress, definitely check this out.
In the meantime, I thought I’d take a spin on it vicariously.
Have you ever noticed any minute, interesting details on the attraction? I strain my eyes to read the notes tacked to the cork board in the final scene, but can never quite make them out. What have you noticed?

I am a huge fan, too. I like it for the reasons you mention, plus the fact that it’s in a nice, cool theater, the value of which can not be underestimated in the Florida heat. I often remind my husband that “we’re involved in something called commuting” which always makes me smile.
Thank you so much for putting this on the site! This is one of my favorite attractions and now I can watch it here in cold, cloudy New Hampshire while I think about my favorite spot in sunny FLA…
Carousel of Progress, definitely the must see attraction that I drag my family on every time, also Figment (sorry Figment haters, everyone has those nasty secrets and I guess Figment is mine)
