I’ve never been to Disneyland. I know – shocking!
That could change though. Disney has released some great Disneyland deals that I wanted to share:
Guests can save up to 25-percent on a Disneyland Resort hotel stay. You have to book by May 28 and travel between April 17 and June 18. I see this as an amazing chance to finally take my pilgrimage to the original. I’d love to see where Walt walked, planned and dreamed up everything. I think it would be great to see his family apartment over the fire station, see the differences between Pirates west coast and Pirates WDW and finally have a look at the one that started it all. I can’t even really picture New Orleans Square – I have no frame of reference.
Check out the Disneyland resorts:

We went to Disneyland last year. It was a nice disney experience. The Gran California looks the prettiest (read: gorgeous) but we stayed off site this time. Personally-the food is no where near as good as at Disney World. We found the kid choices to be mediocre but hopefully you guys will have better luck! It’s a small world is awesome there. I was sad that the Matterhorn was closed while we were there. California Screamer was awesome as well. Overall–we would defintely go there again because it is a nice Disney Experience.
I’m going in August! I’m so very excited to see the park that started it all. I’m not-however-excited about grabbing a first visit pin! it just screams stupid park guest. Nevertheless… We’re staying off property ($300 a night for the cheapest on property!) but still in walking distance of both parks. It’s certain to be much different than WDW but it will be a nice transition into something new before I ship off to college.
By the way, have you read anywhere if one can use their annual pass at Disneyland? I could have sworn I saw that somewhere, but maybe i’m just crazy. That would be nice though…
I have been to Disneyland twice and I do agree with Mindy – the food is not up to par with WDW. They don’t have the same amount of on-site kitchens so a lot of the food is very pre-packaged.
I do love the Indiana Jones ride (don’t tell anyone but it is the exact same track as Dinosaur at AK), it is so much better themed and a way better queue, LOVE this ride.
Main Street seems much shorter and the castle, kind of stubby. The candy store on Main Street – awesome! The Matterhorn is great.
Your feet don’t get as sore as it is smaller and things are obviously closer together. While WDW is by far my favourite, DLR is a lot of fun.
California Adventure = Aladdin show, one of the best stage shows I have seen at a theme park.
It is a real shock when I first got there, standing in the courtyard and looking to the right to see DLR, the left to see California Adventure and straight ahead to ‘Downtown’.
We stayed offsite, across the street from the entrance, much cheaper.
Megan & I are going to the Expo in August. We plan on staying a week, doing the Expo & Disneyland. It will be our first time (her first time in Cali)
We go every year to Disneyland. We look forward to it but it’s so expensive even if we stay at a friendly neighbors. I’d love to stay at the Disneyland Hotel or the Grand Californian but at $500 to $700+/night I’d rather go to Banff or to an all inclusive Jamaican resort for far cheaper. Someday, we say, we’ll go to Disney World or on a Disney cruise, but the cost is just silly.
($10,000 min for D-World/1 week)
When we go to D-Land we always hit Downtown Disney because that’s where the best food is.(and cold beer). In fact we’ll do a couple days at the parks with breaks at Downtown Disney to cool off before going back to the crowds. Avoid weekends if you can.
