More details about new Walt Disney World lodging options were revealed today, including information about the opulent new Royal Guest Rooms.

Kevin Myers, Vice President Walt Disney World Resorts and Hotels this morning detailed a “very immersive, much more over the top” experience that will out-do some of the more delicate, quiet treatments guests have seen in the past.

Based around the “Princess and the Frog” storyline, the new Port Orleans room themes go like this: Princess Tiana has invited her royal friends for a vacation. When you’re Tiana, your friends include people like Belle and Jasmine, among others.  Those friends have brought along some of their most treasured possessions, which guests will see among the room décor. Expect fiber optic special effects above ornately decorated beds with gold and crystal accents. Custom linens and drapes will finish off the opulently accentuated quarters with a luxurious , royal feel.

What will it cost? Myers, who started at the Florida resort in custodial in 1971, said those details are still being worked out, and will become more concrete.

In addition, Myers detailed the upcoming opening of the new Art of Animation Resort, scheduled to open in phases in 2012. Myers said that each new section will not be staggered with lengthy durations between phases, but rather designed to open successively and as quickly as possible.

“Walt Disney had a vision, a rather grand one for Walt Disney World,” Myers said.  “One of his thoughts was when it comes to resorts, was that ‘I want a place for everyone to stay.’”

These new additions, he said, help the resort reach this lofty goal.

Pics of the Royal Rooms will be up later today.
