Mousejunkies J and Deb spent a few nights at Bay Lake Towers and are now moving over to the Beach Club. He touches on a few of the smaller details I haven’t seen in reviews so far. Here’s a quick report live from WDW:
Bay Lake Tower rooms are very nice. The layout is the best studio layout with the galley style kitchenettes. The made a huge error in judgement on floor tile. It is full gloss and it is like walking on a skating rink. Getting out of the shower is taking your life in your own hands.
You would love the new AC units in the rooms. Coldest room I have been in yet. The top of the world lounge is pretty neat as welI. I have now stayed at every resort on Disney property.
BLT is convenient to MK. Walking home after Wishes is way better than bussing that’s for sure. After that, the plusses are few.
Moving over to BCV was like coming home.
It’s way better here. The atmosphere, things to do, pool, food choices, you name it and the Boardwalk area is superior. So in order, number one DVC resort is BCV followed in order by BWV, VWL, BLT, SSR, OKW, and AKL. For me it’s location, location, location. Kidani is nice but you have to bus to EVERYTHING. Ya, you can rent a car but I don’t want to worry about driving drunk and it’s cash I could spend on food especially with gas at 3-4 bucks a gallon.
Just my thoughts. Off to The Studios in a bit. When we bought our TIW card the other day, the printer was hosed up. We waited long enough that they entered us into the computer to use a super fast pass at a park of our choice. We may take it today for ToT, RnR, and Toy Story. We will see what the wait times are and decide.

Instead of typing forever, here is a review I did:

I only had a chance to stay to BLT for one night, so the experience was much different for me because I didn’t have much of a chance to explore the entire resort. We had a MK view which was my absolute favorite part and worth the amount of points by far. I could see the smoke from the WDWRR and woke up from a nap to the afternoon parade. We watched Cinderella Castle light up for Christmas. It was pure magic. It certainly doesn’t feel as homey as some of the other resorts, but I could certainly would try it again!
Reading this was like reading code. I felt like I was part of a special club or something
We stayed at BLT in October 2009 and had Magic Kingdom view. We were absolutely shocked by the fact that the kids were asked to pay $$ to play bingo at the pool. We thought that if you were a DVC member your monthly dues would be enough. But the greed disappointed us. We were extremely disappointed in the beach area, where we went to watch the Electric Water Parade. An absolute dump…bugs and weeds. We are NOT DVC members and this resort made us happy we are not!
Have stayed at BLT a few times and love the location. Top of the world is a nice place to finish off the night. The kids love the pool area. The rooms are ok, we do not spend much time in the room so the odd lay out is not a major issue. The issue I have with the resort is the buses. Service to DS, AK and DTD was poor at best during our Aug 2011 stay. We had one hour plus rides at least 3 times during the week. This should not happen.
Enough being negative I was in Disney it couldn’t have been that bad. I will still go back and I will still look forward to staying at BLT again. I will just think twice about transportation, maybe a cab to DTD and planning for more transportation time to DS and AK.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone else want a sandwich after reading BLT so many times?
@Marilyn – jut wondering how you were able to access the pool area as a non-member? Were you a guest of a DVC member?
@Lisa – yes we were guests of DVC members! We accessed the pool and then we went down to the beach area. It is a absolutely LOVELY resort, but I hope it was only where the beach area had not been attended to yet. Everything is done with an access card. So does that mean if you are not a DVC member and you get a room there that you cannot access the pool and the beach?
