Little Red, RIP

Disney is making over a part of the Kilimanjaro Safari ride, and you can say goodbye to the puny pachyderm who waved hello from the back of a would-be poacher’s truck. According to the Disney Parks Blog, the move is designed to increase savanna space and the attraction’s zebra presence.  So say goodbye to Little Red, [...]

While at Walt Disney World in May, my friend Kevin took the Wild Africa Trek. I thought I’d put up a few pics of Kevin during his grand adventure. Yes, he did survive. I’ve got a lot more pics that gives an amazing close-up look at the trek, but for now I thought I’d introduce [...]

And Liz and Julian are nothing, if not boring. Such [...]

Disney and my newspaper job: Worlds happily colliding

It’s always fun when I can write about something I love. In this case I got to do a feature story about the Wild Africa Trek at Disney’s Animal Knigdom and a sidebar about all the changes and innovations announced last week. It’s in today’s Boston Herald. The best thing is that they turned it [...]

Added bonus at the Yak & Yeti

I was reading this great rundown of the Yak & Yeti restaurant in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, when I was reminded of something I discovered quite by accident during my last meal there a few weeks ago. First of all, the theming in this place is amazing. From DisneyShawn: “The proprietor of this establishment, a local [...]

New at DAK: Wild Africa Trek

As I traveled on the Kilimanjaro Safari a few weeks back, I started noticing new structures and a lot of suit-type Imagineer/cast members walking around, conferencing and pointing at things just beyond the brush along certain parts of the savanna. Now I know what they were doing. They were putting the finishing touches on the [...]
